Understudy

Margot dances in the corps — not because she chose it, but because her mother's name still opens doors at the company. Across the street, Jules runs a food truck she inherited when her father died, serving the same menu he served, in the same spot, to the same lunch crowd. They meet over a sprained ankle and a bowl of soup. Neither of them is living the life they'd have picked. This is a story about understudies — people standing in someone else's place — and what happens when they step out of the wings.
